Description

Rounded single crystal of fluorite from Seilles, an old-time classic from Belgium. It has a strong purple colour, especially intense with backlight. It is a floater specimen, exclusively formed by smooth, naturally dissolved crystal faces. It does have some cleaved surfaces, but still it is very hard to find nowadays such pieces in old collections. These were found as floater crystals in a loose clay matrix, filling cracks in limestones. Furthermore, under long UV waves it fluoresces strongly a beautiful fuchsia-red colour, which is rare and only known in a handful of localities, that adds yet more rarity to this piece.

Found in the early 1970’s, it was acquired in 1973 by Gerard Vogel.
