Description

A colorful specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian to completely colorless from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are gem with a green color which is result of chromium and to completely colorless and transparent. The crystals have a rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization and a strong luster. Some black chromite is seen too. Apple-green diopside crystals grow on the base. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In good condition – some contacts. On acrylic base.
