Description

From the Kamiaba region, a very remote locality close to the border with Zambia, this specimen features euhedral, deep red rhombic dodecahedral crystals of almandine, with good definition of stepped and lustrous faces and net edges, in a grey silicate matrix with grey prismatic arfvedsonite and partially surrounded by whitish calcite. Free of damages!.

The specimen was collected before 1968 by Gilbert Gauthier and Roger Van Dooren, well-known Belgian collectors and dealers, who visited the locality at least two times together. Uncommon locality specimen in collections, these garnets have never been abundant at all.

Exchanged in 1974 with Eudore Toussaint. Ex. Eudore Toussaint #209.
