Brynsåsen Quarry, Stange, Innlandet, Norway
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.3 × 3.7 × 2.9 cm
Description

Lustrous group of amethyst quartz from the Brynsåsen Quarry (Norway) with nice purple color. The point is sharp, with tiny erosions and bright rhombohedral faces. Both crystals are doubly-ended and sceptres. Prim faces are also recrystallized and partially covered by tiny quartz crystals and grey rests of the matrix.

According to Einar Teppen, the Norwegian collector who found the specimen in 2008, these were recovered mostly as loose crystals in a narrow fault zone that cut the granite rock. I would not say that these crystals are rare but are hard to find, and have never been abundant in the market.
