Description

Geode from a very uncommon locality in Turkmenistan of very lustrous, light-blue coloured and extremely transparent crystals of celestine. The red colour of the matrix is probably due to hematite inclusions, that is also present on some celestine crystals. The main form is {001}, modified by {011}, {101}, {201} and {210}. The {210} is very developed in some crystals, giving them a flat-pointed chisel-like termination.

Ex. Dr. Gerard Vogel collection (NL). Found before 1993, when it was added to his collection.
