Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Montroy, Valencia, Valencian Community, Spain
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.8 × 3.6 × 2.7 cm
Description

Cluster of deep red, mostly doubly-ended crystals of quartz with very good lustre and quite aerial, almost a floater, associated to grey crystallized gypsum. Even if these red crystals can be found in many Triassic localities at the East of Spain, we specially point out here the locality, Montroy, which has produced some of the best and darker coloured Jacinto de Compostela quartz crystals, but in limited amounts. The size of the main crystal here, 37 mm, is extraordinary big for Montroy.

Found in 2008. Ex. José Francisco Sáez collection.
