Description

Lustrous transparent crystals of celestine on matrix from Cyprus, an uncommon locality in collections. I have had always many doubts with these celestine specimens from the Vogel collection, but after a peer review of the geology of the area I got convinced about the accuracy, not only because they were collected by Dr Gerard Vogel himself in 04/1995, but because of the relative abundant of scientific publications of these celestines. For instance I refer here to the work of Dill et al., (2009). This was the best biggest piece he collected, and it has been perfectly preserved in a plastic box. Intense bluish fluorescence under ultraviolet light.
