Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Mullaghboy Hill, Carnlough, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4 × 3.5 × 1.5 cm
Description

A good specimen of crystalline mesolite from a relatively new find. The only time in the past I have come across examples of quality from the locality was 18 yrs ago. It is almost entirely comprised of radiating crystals which are compacted into a snow white, coconut like, mass near the focus. In the outer section the crystals form distinct needles while the terminations themselves are transparant when observed with magnification. It could be another 18 yrs before material like this emerges from the locality basalts. ‘Clear-out Minerals’ is having its biggest clear-out yet as the starting price for everything in this auction is just $3 including specimens up to large cabinet size, and a number of type localities. A great chance to combine postage and collect a good suite of zeolites and associated species from an area famed for its minerals.
