Description

An extremely rare, radioactive - checked by myself - Gold specimen from the famous and classic, silver-bearing Kongsberg mining district. This outstanding sample was found by the well known Norwegian mineral collector Thore Pedersen in 1986 in a dump of Hertog Ulrik Mine.

According to the label, this should be the first and only detection of radioactivity in the Kongsberger Silver Mines. Very unusual.

One more note: The german label also says that Gadolinite is equivalent to collomorphic Pitchblende.

Today the dumps are protected and collecting minerals is strictly prohibited.
