Khachakchan, Verkhoyansk, Sakha Republic, Russian Federation
Class:
Massive/Crystalline
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.7 × 2.5 × 0.1 cm
Weight:
8.00gr
Description

A sheet-like thin aggregate of dark silvery brownish amalgam, labeled to be moschellandsbergite from Yakutia, Russia. I learned that a lot of similar specimens were labeled to come from "Privol'noe" which turned out to be a fictive locality. Most of the Ag-Hg alloys and intermetallic compounds originate from the Khachakchan Ore Cluster. I did not analyze this specimen so it is safe to call it an amalgam.
