Arsenopyrite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Noche Buena Mine, Noche Buena, Mazapil Municipality, Zacatecas, Mexico
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.7 × 4.8 × 3.5 cm
Description

Interesting old timer from Mexico: long prismatic arsenopyrite crystals with pyrite and some bits of remaining cover of jamesonite at some spots and on the backside, but nothing spectacular. The locality on the label is quite unreadable to me.

Such specimens have been well known from the Noche Buena mine, Zacatecas region, so it is an educated guess to assign it to that locality. What i would say for sure that it is from Zacatecas. From the late 1970s or earlier.
