Calcite & Celadonite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Iraí, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Museum (18cm plus)
Size:
18.4 × 11.7 × 10.2 cm
Description

The matrix is formed like a bowl and completely covered with dark green to lighter green Celadonite. On it you can see a superb group of free-standing Calcite crystals. The crystals are not dull - each crystal consists of glossy, razor sharp micro-steps. It is impossible to show this effect of a photo. Each crystal grew in a different angle and so you would need a perfect angle and a perfect reflection on each crystal to show these tiny glossy faces. I tried to make photos which give you a good idea of this dramatic, superb aesthetics and show the structure on the crystals on a few detail-shots. The arrangement of the Calcites look like a flower or a star and the largest main crystal is set at the top of the piece - it couldn´t be more aesthetic! All crystals are end-pointed, not even one shows a damage - it is really in fantastic condition. Overall a very spectacular, impressive piece in best quality.
