Rare Mineral

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Izumrudnye Kopi, Malyshevo, Ekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russian Federation
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.8 × 5.2 × 3 cm
Description

A wonderful specimen of this most rare variety of chrysoberyl. The free-standing crystal shows a really out-standing dimension - 30mm across! The faces are partly glossy, some on satiny luster, they show a dark green color. Even a single crystal in this size would be exceptional - but this dimension on matrix is really spectacular. The crystal is opac and translucent along the edges. It was photographed under daylight - under artificial light the green tones switsch to violet of high relevance for the mineral and for the locality!
