Fluorite

Floater

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, United States of America
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
12 × 8.3 × 4.1 cm
Description

The crystals are up to 51mm on edges. The faces show this typical texture, which seems to consist of tiny squares. The most important indicator are the corners - the famous "polished corners" from Elmwood. Of course they are natural and not really polished! These corners were rare and one of the most important, most prominent discoveries in the Elmwood mine. One more important indicator are the yellow zones inside the crystals and the intense purple sharpthin zones along the edges. A really impressive, very eye-catching piece. Like so many old specimen from the locality also this one shows small damages. Regarding the rarity of this material I would judge them acceptable.
