Pyrite & Hematite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rio Marina, Elba, Livorno Province, Tuscany, Italy
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
11.6 × 6.8 × 5.8 cm
Description

In my evaluation this is still the most beautiful combination and the very best locality for pyrite world-wide. Unfortunately field-collecting is impossible there since many years and no new material can be expected. The specimen shows a group of highly lustrous, intense golden, shrp terminated pyrite crystals, which show a great contrast to jet-black, glossy hematite blades. Hard to photograph - much better in person.
