Crystals on Matrix

Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4.4 × 2.9 × 2.9 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.40cm
Description

A freestanding, exposed main crystal (14mm across) of cognac-like colored titanite from a small find in East Tyrol. This material is really of high relevance for Alps: most titanite are from a completely different area - Pinzgau in an other county (Salzburg) of Austria. From Tyrol titanite is generally rare and the intense, vibrant brown-red color is also very uncommon - most crystals from alps show different steps of green. The crystal is sharp terminated, twinned, lustrous and gemmy. No significant damages to report.
