Chalcopyrite & Dolomite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Mitterberg, St Johann im Pongau District, Salzburg, Austria
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.8 × 5.1 × 2.9 cm
Description

Great rarity from Austrian Alps. The dolomite crystals is developed as flaoter. Please note that there is no damage at one corner, although it looks so on photography. This corner consists of tiny little steps. The faces are very lustrouse, but it is hard to capture luster on white minerals with camera, so the glossy faces are better in person. Intergrwon to the front side you can see very colorfull chalcopyrite, which is also glossy. This stuff is very rare, during years I saw only a fist full of specimen in some old collections. No recent finds, never much quantity.
