Description

A nice, slightly yellowish-coloured sample of graphic granite, a magmatic rock with a feldspar-quartz intergrowth where quartz crystals are uniformely scattered in the feldspar crystals and not randomly orientated, reminiscent of runic script. The rock is polished on one side and rough at its other side.

The specimen is from Norway, most probably from one of the pegmatite regions in Southern Norway, possibly Hidra, but there is no more detailed information about the exact locality available unfortunately.

It is from the collection of the famous Swedish mineralogist Harry von Eckermann († 1969, the mineral Eckermannite is named after him) and is followed by an original label bonded in a cardboard box.
