Thulite is the „National Stone of Norway“ and has been used as gemstone and for the manufacturing of gemstone products since many years. There a several different occurences of thulite in Norway, each with its specific characteristics.

At Arendal thulite is known from the Klodeborg Iron Mines where mining started almost 400 years ago. This specimen is a cut piece, polished on one side showing its interior structure very well. Beside pink thulite and white feldspar we can observe some darker, red coloured areas with piemontite. Natural cracks are healed by small, clear quartz crystals. A nice-old time specimen difficult to obtain today.
