Olivenite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sir Dominick Mine, Yudnamutana, Arkaroola , Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.5 × 3 × 3 cm
Description

Olivenite crytals have formed lying flat along a fracture plane in the matrix. This mine is more notable for it's large pseudomorphs of malachite after azurite but a small arsenate zone was discovered in the mine adit in 1989 and almost all specimens have come from that find.

The largest olvenite crystal is about 6 mm long and is associated with minor cornwallite and probably cornubite (unconfirmed). An interesting locality specimen.
