Description

Seams of golden yellow kapundaite - NaCaFe4(PO4)4(OH)3·5H2O occur as radiating acicular crystals throughout this piece and provides a nice contrast to the dark tones of the natrodufrenite.

Specimens of kapundaite were found & made available for analysis by Adelaide collector, Mr. Vince Piesley & was recognised by the IMA in 2009. It was named after the nearby historic town of Kapunda which was itself the centre of Australia's first copper mine, discovered in 1842.
