Description

Reddish-brown aggregates of subhedral crystals and grains up to about 5 mm of lombardoite embedded in a quartz layer cutting a hematitic matrix. This very new species Ba2Mn3+(AsO4)2(OH) (IMA 2016-058) comes from an ancient mine located on the Cottian Alps (2500 m asl). It is visually not distinguishable from other members of the brackebuschite supergroup also present at the mine (e.g. canosioite) therefore specimens must be carefully probed. This very rich and representative specimen comes from the author's material and is part of the holotype.
