Description Tabs

Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.9 × 4.5 × 3.5 cm
Description

A dark blue clinoclase crystal aggregate is the main feature of this interesting combo specimen. The dark green material is most likely malachite, but could also be pseudomalachite or cornwallite. Looking at it with a pocket-microscope I discovered a lot of very tiny golden grains – unfortunately too small to photograph for me. Following good advice of a colleague I’ll have it tested while the auction is running. If it is really gold, that would be a little sensation for the Clara mine. So far I can only say it’s my visual ID and I cannot give a guarantee. There are more mineral species present amongst others the common matrix material baryte, quartz and maybe tennantite (gray).
