Hochfilzen, Kitzbühel Alps, North Tyrol, Tyrol, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
17 × 10 × 7.4 cm
Description

A rare type of calcite which was found only once and which has delivered only a small amount of good pieces: the elongated crystals are hexagonally stretched. Similar to a stalactite the crystals are hollow inside and consequently look like pipes. Hence the name in German: Röhren Calcite. These specimens are hard to recover because they are often grown into each other within a narrow cavern. No significant damage to report. Very good three-dimensional structure!
