Description

Here we have a superb, old-time specimen of Ilvaite from Rio Marina of Elba Island in Tucany, Italy. This species was first described from here and was named after an old spelling of the island of Elba. It is the Type Locality for ilvaite. The piece consists of several crystals grown in parallel and ends with the termination of the main crystal. The shine is excellent all around with a fine striped structure on the surfaces. Individual small pyrite and quartz crystals have grown on the Ilvaite. Very beautiful and above all large piece! This piece comes from an old collection and was acquired in 1964. The old collection label is included.
