Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Wanni Glacier, Monte Cervandone, Binn Valley, Valais, Switzerland
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
1.3 × 2.6 × 2 cm
Description

Gasparite rarely formed under the influence of As-bearing solutions as pseudomorphosis after synchisite during alpine metamorphism in alpine fissures of the Wannigletscher/Cervandone area.

On this specimen the pseudomorphosis ( ~ 0.7 mm) after a tabular, hexagonal crystal of synchisite consists of tiny, sparkling, well-defined crystals. It is quite attractive and emphasized by the good contrast of the gasparite and the accompanying dark mica and chlorite.

Collected in 1997.
