Langley Barony Mine, Haydon Bridge

Started in 1873, and closed in1893, around 40K tons of lead were extracted. The mine consisted of three main lead veins; the Joicey shaft, St.Andrew's vein and Bewick vein. Bewick vein was the largest continuing for 4,400 ft.long, 175 ft.at its widest.
Today, all that remains are two spoil heaps, surface buildings the portal at Honeycrook Adit (1875) though the adit name plaque has gone, and maybe others.
