Named for being the Ce analogue of håleniusite-(La). The root name is in honor of Prof. Ulf Hålenius (b. 1951), professor and Director of the Mineralogy Department at the Natural History Museum, Stockholm, Sweden, for his contributions to the spectroscopy of minerals and the mineral sciences in general.
