Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Eisleben, Mansfeld Basin, Saxony - Anhalt, Germany
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
16.3 × 10.8 × 5.7 cm
Description

Here you see an attractive Gypsum specimen from Eisleben with well developed, sharp and transparent crystals. Selenite is not a rare mineral, but good old German specimens are quite uncommon and rarely offered on the market. This one is truly impressive, not just for its size, but the glassy excellence of the crystals which cover the face of the matrix - and with very few missing crystals, even though selenite is notoriously soft and brittle.
