Description

This is a specimen of allargentum in a vein of native silver. The close-up photo illustrates the fine-grained graphic inter-growth of antimony-rich silver and allargentum along a parting surface. It is an unusually good sample in that it clearly shows the parting caused by the allargentum intergrowth and exhibits the intergrowth pattern on some of the parting surfaces. Such a pattern is normally not visible without polishing and etching. The vein of antimony rich silver is up to 5.0 mm thick and is approx. 4.0 X 3.0 cm in area.
