Description

While phyllosilicates might not be the first thought as Alpine minerals, this clinochlore specimen definitely stands out of the crowd.

Over a dozen of multicentimetric sized clinochlore crystals are elegantly placed atop of a pale cream rodingite matrix. Clinochlore shows a green color, with good lustre and classic sheet habitus, with frequent delamination evident. Associated, a few tens of small orange hessonite crystals provide a good color contrast. Locally, some minor bright diopside crystals can also be spotted.

Clinochlore of this size and quality is definitely unusual to find.
