Size Range:

1 × 1.6 × 1.3 cm
Description

This is a small specimen. But it is big on unusual, golden yellow, curly tuperssuatsiaite, which is naked eye visible. Moreover, this is an analyzed specimen (hence the starting bid – verified tuperssuatsiaite from Saint-Amable is hard to come by). FOV in the close-up photo is 6.8 x 4.4 mm. In total, the tupperssuatsiaite spans about 11 mm.

Note: In the Saint-Amable sill, tuperssuatsiaite, is generally visually indistinguishable from yofortierite. According to EDS (last “photo”), this is clearly not yofortierite, In fact, the analyst suggested “amphibole group”. However, Horváth recently reported that tuperssuatsiaite is more common in the sill than previously thought, and it seemed to me that the EDS is more consistent with that possibility. (Al, Mg and especially Mn have been found in “significant” amounts in tuperssuatsiaite from Greenland.) This has now been confirmed via XRD at CMN.

Weight 0.1 oz. Single item shipping weight 2.1 oz. Up to a total weight <= 4 oz, this could be combined with other items for the same postage. Alternatively, outside the USA, this could be sent via padded envelope for $7.

Seller's terms and conditions

In addition to the standard terms and conditions, please note the following. Almost all IDs are visual. While in most cases the ID is obvious, there may be cases where it is not. If you are doubtful about a particular ID, please ask for more information. Or do not bid! Similarly, if you are not sure that the specimen meets your criteria, do not bid. I have tdone the best I can with the photos. Nevertheless, if you are not happy with a specimen for any reason, I will refund the bid price – but not the shipping costs (unless the fault is clearly mine) – if the specimen is returned. This policy applies even if analysis of the specimen shows that my ID was incorrect. When in doubt, ask - or don’t bid. Note that most crystals at MSH and Varennes are micros - even if on large specimens. Please pay attention to the stated sizes. Any customs duties, fees etc. are the responsibility of the buyer.
