Description

Specimen solely consisting of massive magnetite with cubic cleavage faces. Strongly magnetic.

Comes with original hand-written label of A. A. Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist, and on-glued corresponding number sticker. His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz probably shortly after his death.

The label means: "Magnétite - Clivable en Cubes - Suède"
(Magnetite - cleavable in cubes - Sweden).
No exact locality is given, several places are possible: The Falun mines area, Nordmark Odal Field, Filipstad or Malmberget, Gällivare.
