Description

This is really old material: A historic triplite specimen which comes with an antique label of the collection of Christian Friedrich Bauersachs. He was born in 1767 near Bayreuth, Germany and began collecting minerals in 1792 for the board of mines of Clausthal (Harz mountains) as well for his private collection. In 1821 he sold his private collection of more than 6000 specimens to the mining college of Clausthal (unfortunately the old labels were removed from the specimens at that time. Today, the assignment of the labels is ensured using old catalogues and comparisons of handwritings). Bauersachs retired from service in 1830, after this date the mineral dealership of Dr. August Krantz was able to purchase some parts of the mining college collection. Bauersachs deceased on Dec 14, 1845 in Sömmerda near Erfurt in Thuringia, Germany.
The label means: 'Eisenpecherz - Phosphorsaures Eisen - von Chanteloube bei Limoges in Frankreich' (Triplite - phosphoric acid iron - from Chanteloube near Limoges in France).
Comes with label and antique box.

Eisenpecherz (Mohs) = triplite, Chester 211 (1896).
