Description

This is a rarely offered and well-formed pseudomorphosis from cerussite to phosgenite. The crystal reaches to a size of exactly 2.5 centimetres in length.

The following information can be taken from the literature according to HINTZE, which describes this pseudomorph excellently: “Complete pseudomorphs of cerussite to phosgenite were mined in the pit. The surfaces of the pseudomorph crystals are always curved, buckled and twisted. This phenomenon is attributed to uneven pressure of the enclosing clay during pseudomorphization. The crystals occur individually, in parallel aggregates or in a star shape.”

Rarely offered rarity of a very well-preserved and well-formed pseudomorph of cerussite to phosgenite. The specimen comes with the copy of the original label of Dr. A. KRANTZ, Bonn (Germany). This is a specimen from before 1880.
