Description

One of the main and most important Spanish sites where to locate the so-called "Jacintos of Compostela", which can be bipyramidal crystals, forming aggregates in "pineapples" or "balls", or loose in a matrix is the keuper of the city of Chella, an outcrop where there is a large amount of hematoid plaster with red clays, and among them we can see the hematoid quartz of the variety commonly called "Jacinto de Compostela", which appears forming geodes, forming "pineapples" or loose between the gypsum´s matrix, as shown in this characteristic piece of this deposit, a sample of "selenite" gypsum, transparent, with a vitreous luster, monoclinic, flexible and low hardness crystalline system in which we can see quartz crystals scattered of red colour of the variety "Jacinto de Compostela", which have vitreous luster, some translucent crystals and other opaque crystals and trigonal crystalline system. A beautiful piece of this important and unique deposit of this type of quartz.
