Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Molybdenum Mine, Höllental Gorge, Upper Bavaria, Bavaria, Germany
Class:
Massive/Crystalline
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.6 × 2.9 × 2.1 cm
Description

Ugly and only for reference specimen from a famous but not often seen locality: A kind of ore breccia includes yellowish wulfenite, some disseminated galena and maybe brownish calamin. The label states molybdenite but this is obviously wrong, this mineral was never described from there. Nevertheless interesting, from the operational time of the mine (1919) which ended 1923.
