Description

Interesting old timer specimen from the iron mines of the Kertch or the Taman peninsula: Almost blackish vivianite (probably kertchenite) sheaves in a vug of a fossil clam shell. The old label gives Zheleznyi Rog, Anapa, Taman Peninsula as the locality but i haven´t seen this particular kind of vivianite filled clams from there yet. So i´ll stick with the label but think that the specimen comes more probably from the Kertch peninsula (which is both Russia now???) Ukraine seems not be applicable anymore for Kertch ....
