Description

Here is a superb gastropod spiral shell specimen of Turritella turebra, an early Miocene fossil that is 16-20 million years old. There is a second type of shell present but not knowing much about fossils I am unable to identify. The shells are in a block of sandstone that was collected near Bordeaux, France. The sandstone has been carefully chipped away to expose the shells.  This is a really fine piece nicer than the images suggest..
