Description Tabs

Locality:
Gifurwe Mines, Cyeru Commune, Northern Province, Rwanda

Crystal Group/Cluster

Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.4 × 3.1 × 2.4 cm
Description

Old sample of bright yellow powdery tungstite on a classic “reinite” pseudomorph from the remote pegmatites of Gifurwe. This is a good size specimen formed by an aggregate of scheelite crystals completely replaced by polycrystalline lustrous blackish-brown microcrystalline ferberite. Most of the original ditetragonal faces of the scheelite crystals are still recognizable, which is uncommon in these samples, beautiful!.

Collected in the 1960’s by professor Albert Delvaux (1919-1998).
