Description

Thulite is the „National Stone of Norway“ and has been used as gemstone and for the manufacturing of gemstone products since many years. There are several different occurences of thulite in Norway, each with its specific characteristics.

Here we have a quarzitic gneis (probably a pegmatitic lense), which is banded with impregnations of pink thulite alternating with green amazonite. Quite a colourful and rare combination from an unusual locality which is located north of Snøfjellkollan in Dindalen, today area of a national park. The specimen was found in 1990 and is out of the collection of a local collector.
