This specimen comes from the Netherlands, a country very poor in minerals. With just three active limestone quarries and some old mine dumps there are only a two or three mineral collecting sites and really good specimens from the Netherlands are scarce. This specimen, from the limestone quarry at Ratum in the Province of Gelderland, has a good coverage of lustrous light pink transparent celestine crystals up to 5 mm, some tiny balls of white acicular strontianite crystals and some milky-white calcite crystals up to 8 mm.
