Description

First of all: this specimen is very difficult to photograph, the assemble is very tridimensional and there are lot of details – both don´t „work“ with images. The crystals are all very exposed, freestanding in each various angles; it is really much more impressive in person.

The whole specimen consists of ore-matrix, on it countless large scalenohedral calcite crystals, which become replaced by quartz during genesis. The whole surface consist of sparkling micro—crystals of quartz, really looks amazing in person, like thousands and millions of glossy grains, this is what a camera cannot capture.

The edges and also part of some faces are covered with a dark mineral – that are well developed, small crystals of bournonite. Scattered all over you can see numerous glossy, sharp terminated baryte crystals. They show same color and quality, like the yellow baryte you bought some time ago.

Finally – between the calcite crystals, you can see a couple of large (2 to 3cm tall) highly lustrous sphalerite crystals. So a pseudomorph specimen that involved 6 minerals on one specimen! Cavnic is well known for nice combinations – but 6 (including one even rare mineral like bournonite) in one is exceptional, even for Cavnic.

Again – in person it shows a really spectacular visual impact.

Although it is large, although there are so many crystals, it is undamaged (accept backside was extracted from the rock).
