Description

Ore specimen consisting of solid sphalerite with tiny reddish crystals in the cavities.

Comes with beautiful old label and on-glued corresponding number sticker from the former collection of metallurgical plant director Dr. O. Schmidt, Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany.
He deaceased 1923 or 1924, the collection (appr. 1200 specimens) was sold to the city of Bergisch-Gladbach in 1925, used as teaching resources in a secondary school then.
In 2016, after several movements, the remainders of the collection were sold to in order to support the city's fossil collection.
The label means: "Derbe Zinkblende mit zerfressenem Quarz und kristallisierter Blende" (Rough sphalerite with corroded quartz and crystallized 'Blende'=Sphalerite - Montabaur).
