Description

Quite transparent smoky quartz crystal from Hatton (Sri Lanka), that is a very uncommon locality in collections. Interestingly it has a barrel-shaped crystal with a “transitional habit”. Crystals of “transitional habit” display a combination of steep rhombohedral faces, typical for the Tessin, and “m” prism faces, common in normal habit crystals, so it is an intermediate between Tessin and normal habit. Minor damage at the is present at the tip.

The specimen was acquired to local collectors by Guido Cornelis during a collecting trip in 1998.
