Description

An outstanding and rare epimorph: The hexagonal-shaped gypsum crystal was originally coated by other minerals, the original gypsum then dissolved away, leaving a hollow cast surrounded by the new minerals, here globular/botryoidal green smithsonite.

The Apex mine ist famous for these hollow epimorphs of azurite, malachite or smithsonite after gypsum, but these are very seldom available and only out of old collections.
