Description

Elegant and well balanced miniature of brown smithsonite of exceptional quality. The aggregate consists of two dozens of rice grain shaped crystals, with quite well visible growth patterns and very good lustre. Three crystals stand individually in a very photogenic pose, making it easy to shoot some excellent pictures. On the outskirts of the specimen, earthy layered green-grey greenalite appears. Greenalite is the iron rich member of the Kaolinite-Serpentine Group and it is known to occur at La Union.
Very good specimen from this Spanish mining district, it possibly comes from San Valentin Mine. Quite representative for both species, I acquired it in Tucson 2013.
