Description

Piece of dull brown, amorphous siderite with bitumen (lustrous, more blackish - see pics 3 & 4).

A historic specimen which comes with original hand-written label of Augustin Alexis Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist, and on-glued corresponding number sticker.
His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.
The label means: "Sidérose amorphe avec bitume de Serbie" (Amorphous siderite with bitumen from Serbia).
sidérose = siderite, AM 49, 224 (1964).
