Selenite & Calcite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Oberzeiring, Pölstal, Murtal District, Styria, Austria
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
11.9 × 11 × 5.7 cm
Description

This is an out-standing rarity out from an old collection of a miner, who digged at this meanwhile defunct locality for almost 4 decades - it´s the combination, which makes this specimen nearly unique. Even in this best local collection only 3 of this specimen were included. Selenite developed glossy dark brown spherical aggregates set on calcite (so called "feather-calcite" - in honor to the structure of the crystals). Well formed, ver aesthetic and in fine condition damage-wise. Hard to photograph and much better in person.
