Description

One of the key rarities of the current auction!

Double terminated dark brown rutile with black, metallic lustre, cropping out of white quartz matrix. Crude surface for the rutile, which features a blocky shape. The crystal is grown within quartzite associated to silvery muscovite, and the extraction from the matrix is very hard.

Tavagnasco rutile is extremely rare, as literally a scarce handful have been found. This one comes from a local collector who found it 20+ years ago. Undoubtely, specialist Alpine material!

From my personal collection.
